Announcement: "Bark Weaving Workshop"

~ Discover the local "Akamegashiwa" (Japanese Mallotus) plant, harvest its bark, and craft your own bag. ~

We are delighted to host the first session of the "Bark Weaving Workshop" at Hotel SHU, led by Kaori Yumahare, who lives in harmony with the mountains in Shimanto, Kochi Prefecture.

This is a special opportunity to experience the traditional spirit of Teshima—harvesting what grows from the local soil to create essential tools for daily life.

Participation Fee: 40,000 JPY (Includes all 6 sessions / Meal fee for the 1st session is separate)

〈Regarding the 2nd session and beyond〉
・These sessions will be held via Zoom, connecting everyone from their own homes. (Archived recordings will be available.)
・Schedule: July 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, and August 6
・Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

For those joining us from afar, we highly recommend staying at Hotel SHU.
As an exclusive benefit for our guests, we will host a guided tour of "Mikogahama Farm" on the following day, June 7th.

[Mikogahama Farm]
A farm dedicated to the revitalization of Teshima's traditional "Three-Dimensional Agriculture" (Rittai Nogyo). They practice sustainable farming that utilizes the island's natural elevation changes, without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers during the cultivation period.
